What do you guys carry in your kit for water purification? I carry a sawyer water filter personally. Curious what everybody else uses?

I also have a sawyer mini as my primary water purification. Backup I have tablets. Small and lightweight and have them as backup because they make the water taste funny but in survival taste is secondary. The wife prefers the life straw but it has a limited shelf life.

Just because you wouldn't have to worry about the "Life" of the filter.

That sounds interesting. I have seen the solar stills but have never tried using one. Great idea!!

I have a small homemade distiller in my backpack. All stainless steel, can be heated with solar or fire. Or any other means of generating enough heat to boil water. It kills the germs, vents out chlorine, and removes most fluoride. I also have a charcoal/sand filter-in-a-can in my backpack, plus an even tinier distiller and filter in a pocket of my "survival pants". Bleach or tablets are absolutely last-resort because they taste nasty and just make you sick in other ways. Certain herbs can also kill germs and even neutralize fluoride, but they also affect the taste of the water. Because then it would be a kind of tea.
